The SelectUSA Canada conference brings together Canadian investors and U.S. market entry leaders to discuss opportunities and services available to Canadian companies planning to expand in the United States.

Rothwell Figg’s Fedtrade® U.S. Market Entry team recently attended the 2024 SelectUSA Canada Conference in Toronto, an annual event that provides a forum for Canadian companies with informative guidance to explore cross-border expansion opportunities.

Rothwell Figg served as an event sponsor and engaged Canadian companies in discussions on the complexities and opportunities associated with U.S. market entry. Topics of interest included corporate formation, intellectual property protection, location selection, and immigration for key personnel. The Rothwell Figg Fedtrade® program is specifically designed to guide companies, SMEs and investors through these processes, minimizing market entry risks and supporting a smooth transition into the U.S. market.

Following a day of meaningful consultations at the Fairmont Royal York venue for 2024 SelectUSA Canada, Rothwell Figg’s attorneys James Hastings and Sheena Wang were honored to represent the firm at the Thanksgiving Dinner hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Canada (AmCham Canada). The Fedtrade team were hosts to key figures in Canada’s innovation ecosystem, including Glen Millard of Export Development Canada, Prakash Gowd of Toronto Innovation Acceleration Partners (TIAP), Estelle Chen and Vlora Muslimi of TD Bank, Michael Huynh of Intellectual Property Ontario (IPON), and Scott Jolliffe of Gowling WLG. This gathering provided a unique opportunity to touch base with some long-time colleagues and new acquaintances in Canada’s innovation community.

The dinner marked the conclusion of a successful day at the conference, which underscored the mutual interest between Canadian companies and investors and U.S. development programs in fostering business growth across borders. Rothwell Figg’s U.S. Market Entry team valued the chance to share insights into the strategic advantages of Rothwell Figg’s Fedtrade® services, emphasizing the firm’s commitment to making U.S. expansion as smooth and beneficial as possible for expanding Canadian companies.
